What an action-packed few weeks! The Sony Open brings the best of the tennis world and South Florida living to Key Biscayne during this WTA & ATP event. Sunny days are filled with world-class tennis, while evenings brim with unbelievable food, latin rhythms and nonstop energy.  Mayleen Ramey kicked things off at the Sony Open player party, interviewing top players, who were just as eager to get out on the dance floor, as they were to hit the courts. With Calvin Harris DJing and attendees dressed in their most stylish duds, this was certainly one of the hottest player parties of the year.

The first week of the US Open is in full swing! What a wonderful time to be in NYC, a city whose electric energy is only heightened by the buzz and international appeal of this Grand Slam. After spending the past few months in Europe, having had the opportunity to attend not only Wimbledon but also the Olympics in London, Mayleen is back in the US to support the tennis community and cheer on her favorite players at Flushing Meadows. It’s been a great opportunity to meet and interact with DT fans, so if you see her at an event or on the grounds, be sure to say ‘hello’!

On August 25th, tennis legends through the ages gathered at NYC’s Lexington Avenue Armory to battle it out for DirecTV’s Old School Challenge, presented by ESPN. To even the playing field, new school players– the Bryan brothers and Pete Sampras– were given wooden racquets as they competed against old school tennis icons– the Jensen brothers and Ivan Lendl. John McEnroe, Brett Haber and Justin Gimelstob provided commentary, while Mayleen Ramey conducted red carpet interviews and served as the sideline correspondent. This memorable gathering of the greats will be broadcast on DirecTV’s Audience Network, as well as Tennis Channel.

What started with donating 4 pairs of dirty sneakers turned into a mission! On April 1st, I launched GIVE SHOES: A Tennis Shoe Drive for Japan. Over the next 10 days, 15 local tennis facilities would join the effort by reaching out to their pros and members for help. I also organized a Goodwill Gathering, where we raised money for Soles4Souls and collected 289 shoes in one night alone! Because of the outpouring of support from the tennis community, as well as friends, family and kind strangers, I’m proud to say that we collected a total of 752 pairs of shoes!! Some famous faces who lent a hand, included actor CS Lee, Karin Anna Cheung, MMA fighter Yves Edwards, musician Bobby Choy, and even comedian-actor Will Ferrell donated shoes at his local tennis club! Thank you everyone for your contribution and for sharing the LOVE!!
